چکیده

مقدمه: در اکثر موارد پس از انجام جراحی پریودنتال، ناحیه جراحی توسط پک جراحی پوشانده می‌شود. مطالعات جدید پیشنهاد می‌کنند که کاربرد پک پریودنتال پس از جراحی فلپ پریودنتال غیر‌‌ضروری است و حتی ممکن است برای عده‌ای از بیماران آزار‌دهنده باشد. هدف از این پژوهش تعیین آلودگی میکروبی پک‌های پریودنتال از طریق شمارش کلنی‌های میکروبی نخ‌های بخیه به دنبال جراحیModified Widman Flap بود.مواد و روش‌ها: در این کارآزمایی بالینی، 32 نفر از بیمارانی که نیاز به جراحی پریودنتالModified Widman Flap حداقل در دو نیم فک داشتند، انتخاب گردیدند. در یک نیم فک به طور تصادفی بعد از جراحی، محل جراحی با پک پریودنتال پوشانده شد و نیم فک دیگر بدون پانسمان رها گردید. یک هفته بعد از جراحی، بخیه‌ها کشیده شد و جهت شمارش کلنی‌های باکتریایی، تحت بررسی قرار گرفت. در نهایت شمارش کلنی‌های میکروبی در دو گروه انجام گرفت و با استفاده از نرم‌افزار SPSS و آزمون آماری  Sample paired test با یکدیگر مقایسه شد (05/0 = α).یافته‌ها: میانگین کلنی‌های میکروبی شمارش شده با استفاده از پک پریودنتال (2900 ± 10187) و بدون استفاده از آن (3042 ± 9812) بود. دو گروه با یکدیگر تفاوت معنی‌داری نداشتند (602/0 = p value).نتیجه‌گیری: نتایج این پژوهش نشان داد که نخ‌های بخیه در صورت استفاده یا عدم استفاده از پک پریودنتال (Coe-pak) دارای آلودگی میکروبی بوده و وجود پک پریودنتال اثری در میزان این آلودگی ندارد.کلید واژه‌ها: کلنی‌های میکروبی، پک پریودنتال(Coe-pak)، جراحی Modified Widman Flap.

Comparative evaluation of microbial colony counts of sutures with and without use of periodontal pack after modified Widman flap surgery

Introduction: In most cases after periodontal surgery, the surgical area is covered with surgical packs. Recent studies suggest that use of periodontal packs after periodontal flap surgery is not necessary and some patients may be irritated by them. The aim of this study was to determine microbiological contamination of a periodontal pack (Coe-pak) by determining microbial colony counts of surgical sutures after modified Widman flap surgery.Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, thirty-two patients needing periodontal surgeries at least in two quadrants of jaws were selected. In one quadrant, after surgery the surgical area was covered with periodontal pack randomly and the other quadrant was left without any dressing. After a week the sutures were removed and microbiological colony counts were determined. Finally microbial colony counts in the two groups were compared between the two groups by paired sample test using SPSS software (α=0.05).                                                                                        Results: The mean colony counts with and without periodontal pack were 10187±2900 and 9812±3042, respectively, with no statistically significant differences between the two groups (p value = 0.602).Conclusion: The results of this research showed that sutures have microbial contamination with or without use of periodontal packs and these materials have no effect on microbial contamination. Key words: Microbial colon, Modified Widman flap surgery, Periodontal pack (Coe-pak).
