Abstract
Introduction: Despite advances in new imaging methods in dentistry, the intraoral radiography technique is still the most widely used imaging technique. Meanwhile, the risk of infection transmission is high due to interaction between the patient and the dentist. This study aimed to evaluate the commitment rate to infection control in oral radiology by dentists and students of Isfahan Dental School
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was performed by completing a questionnaire by several dentists and students of Isfahan Dental School. The questionnaire contained 11 questions in 9 domains related to infection control in dentistry. Each answer was given a specific score (the final point was between a maximum of 35 and a minimum of 5). The mean, standard deviation, frequency, and Spearman correlation coefficient (α < 0.05) were calculated.
Results: According to the answers provided by participants, the mean scores of performances were 20.9 in students and 25.2 in dentists. The Mann-Whitney test also showed a significant difference between the two groups of dentists and students (p value < 0.001).
Conclusion: The mean performance score was moderate in the two groups of dentists and students.
