Introduction: Sleep apnea is a disorder that causes to stop breathing for a short time during sleep. The aim of this study was to determine and compare the knowledge, attitude and practice of orthodontists, pediatricians and general dentists in Isfahan regarding obstructive sleep apnea in children.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 84 dentists specializing in orthodontics, pediatrics and general dentists working in private offices and clinics in Isfahan city were selected in 2014-2016. Data collection was performed using a self-made questionnaire that its validity and reliability were confirmed. The data were analyzed using ANOVA , t- test and Kruskal-Wallis= α) 0.05)
Results: The mean score of knowledge (p<0.001) and the score of attitudes (p=0.010) were significantly different between general dentists, orthodontic specialists and pediatric specialists, but the mean performance score of general dentists, orthodontic specialists and pediatric specialists was not significantly different (p=0.777). As the age of dentists increased, their awareness and attitude increased.
Conclusion: Orthodontists and pediatricians have a higher level of knowledge, attitude and practice than general dentists, so in order to increase the parameters measured in general dentists, it is necessary to hold additional and training courses.
