Introduction: Sleep apnea is a disorder that causes to stop breathing for a short time during sleep. The aim of this study was to determine and compare the knowledge, attitude and practice of orthodontists, pediatricians and general dentists in Isfahan regarding obstructive sleep apnea in children.
Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 84 orthodontists, pediatric dentists and general dentists working in private offices and clinics in Isfahan during 2020-2021 were selected. Data collection was performed using a self-administered questionnaire whose validity and reliability were confirmed. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, T- test and Kruskal-Wallis tests (α = 0.05))
Results: The mean knowledge score (P < 0.001) and attitude score (P = 0.010) were significantly different among dentists, orthodontic specialists and pediatric dentists, but the mean practice score among general dentists, orthodontic specialists and pediatric dentists showed no significant difference (P = 0.777). As the age of dentists increased, their awareness and attitude also increased..
Conclusion: Orthodontists and pediatric dentists have a higher level of knowledge, attitude and practice compared to general dentists, so in order to increase the parameters measured in general dentists, holding additional training courses is necessary.
