Introduction:Knowledge of how to record jaw relationships in patients requiring complete dentures can help the dentist achieve effective treatment results. The aim of this study was to investigate the level of awareness of final year dental students at Islamic Azad University of Isfahan(Khorasgan) and Isfahan Medical Sciences about how to record jaw relationships in patients with complete dentures.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional analytical study, a questionnaire was designed in 1402 and completed by 160 final year dental students at Islamic Azad University of Isfahan (Khorasgan) and Isfahan Medical Sciences. Data were tested using Student-T-test and Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients(α = 0.05).
Result: A total of 160 students, 41.9% male and 58.1% female, were studied. The average knowledge score of the groups at Islamic Azad University of Isfahan (Khorasgan) and Isfahan Medical Sciences was 11.11 and 11.13, respectively. There was no significant relationship between the type of university and age and the students' knowledge score (P>0.05), but a weak and significant relationship was observed between gender and the knowledge score (P = 0.46).
Conclusion: The level of awareness of the final year dental students of Islamic Azad University of Isfahan Branch(Khorasgan) and Isfahan Medical Sciences about how to record jaw relationships in patients with complete edentulism is average, and the university of study and age were not effective factors in changing the level of awareness, although a weak but significant relationship was observed between gender and the level of students' knowledge.
