Introduction: Knowledge of how to record jaw relationships in patients requiring complete dentures can help the dentist achieve successful treatment outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the level of awareness of final year dental students at Islamic Azad University of Isfahan (Khorasgan) and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences regarding how to record jaw relationships in patients with complete dentures.
Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional analytical study conducted in 2023, a questionnaire was designed and completed by 160 final-year dental students at Islamic Azad University, Isfahan Branch (Khorasgan), and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. Data were analyzed using Student's t-test and Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients (α = 0.05).
Results: A total of 160 students, 41.9% male and 58.1% female, were studied. The average knowledge scores of the groups at Islamic Azad University of Isfahan (Khorasgan) and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences were 11.11 and 11.13, respectively. There was no significant relationship between the type of university and age and the students' knowledge score (P > 0.05), but a weak and significant relationship was observed between gender and the knowledge score (P = 0.46).
Conclusion: The level of knowledge among final-year dental students at Islamic Azad University, Isfahan Branch (Khorasgan) and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences regarding the recording of jaw relationships in completely edentulous patients was moderate. The university attended and age were not significant factors influencing knowledge levels, although a weak but significant relationship was observed between gender and the level of students' knowledge.
