Introduction:Dental Anxiety in children is one of the major challenges during dental procedures such as tooth extraction and can negatively affect their cooperation and overall treatment experience. The aim of this study was compared the effectiveness of using music,3D glasses and behavioral control methods on Children's pain and anxiety during tooth extraction.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional experimental study, 93 children aged 6 to 8 years who had previous dental experience and had visited the pediatric department of the Faculty of Dentistry, Khorasgan Azad University (Isfahan) were selected. The anxiety level of children in the three groups of music, 3D glasses and behavioral control before and after work was measured by MCDASF (Modified Child Dental Anxiety Scale) questionnaires. The pain level of each group was assessed by Wong-Baker Face Pain. The data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance statistical tests
Results: The average anxiety of children before and after the procedure was not significantly different in the behavioral control group (p=0.229). In the music group (p<0.001) and in the 3D glasses group (p<0.001), the average dental anxiety of children after the procedure was significantly lower than before the procedure. The lowest level of anxiety was in the 3D glasses group and the highest level of anxiety was in the behavioral control group. The best group in reducing pain after extraction was the 3D glasses group.
Conclusion: Using 3D glasses to reduce fear and anxiety can be a more useful method than music and behavioral control.
