Introduction: Temporary crowns are designed to protect oral structures, improve function, and aesthetics for a limited time. Patient satisfaction is an important factor in evaluating the results of dental treatments and is related to the quality of treatment, communication with the dentist, and patient expectations. The present study was conducted to investigate the satisfaction of patients referring to the prosthetics department of Isfahan Dental School with temporary crowns.
Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study. The instrument of this study is a questionnaire designed by the researcher that has been validated and is reliable, and consists of two parts: 4 demographic questions and 28 specific questions arranged on a 5-point Likert scale. The study population consisted of 109 patients referring to Isfahan Dental School in the academic year 1403-1404.
Results: The satisfaction score for the color and appearance of the crowns was 2.27, for the function 2.61, and for the efficiency in chewing was 2.72. Also, the average durability and longevity score was reported as 2.50, and overall satisfaction as 2.65. The average patient satisfaction was below average (3), except for the gingival and tissue irritation level, where no significant difference was observed. Comparisons showed substantial differences in some variables between men and women, single and married individuals, and different age groups. In general, patient satisfaction with temporary crowns is lower than average.
Conclusion: Given patients' increasing expectations for beauty and quality, dentists and dental material manufacturers must pay attention to improving the characteristics of crowns.
