Introduction: Temporary crowns are designed to protect oral structures, improve function, and enhance aesthetics for a limited time. This study investigated the satisfaction levels of patients visiting the Prosthodontics Department of Isfahan Dental School regarding temporary crowns.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was conducted in 2023-2024 at Isfahan Dental School on 109 patients. The study instrument was a researcher-designed questionnaire, validated for reliability and validity, consisting of two parts: 4 demographic questions and 28 specific questions on a 5-point Likert scale. Chi-square, Fisher's exact, and T-tests were used for data analysis (α = 0.05).
Results: The satisfaction score for crown color and appearance was 2.27, for function 2.61, and for chewing efficiency 2.72. The mean score for durability and longevity was 2.50, and overall satisfaction was 2.65. In most cases, the average patient satisfaction was below average (3), except for gum and tissue irritation, where no significant difference was observed. Comparisons showed significant differences between males and females, single and married individuals, and different age groups in some variables. Overall, patient satisfaction with temporary crowns was below average.
Conclusion: Given the increasing patient expectations for aesthetics and quality, it is essential that dental students and dental material manufacturers focus on improving crown characteristics.
